Motivational Speaker: Dr. Toby Malichi, Hon. D. Bus.
From his humble beginnings to overcoming tremendous odds; being scouted to play professional baseball right out of high school; the first in his family to attend and graduate from college; to surviving a near fatal car crash and spending many months is a critical care burn unit. And yet, more tragedy struck Dr. Toby Malichi again with the lost of a father he never got to know; his mother; his middle brother; then his baby brother; then his younger sister. What drives Dr. Malichi is the fact that he is the oldest of all of his siblings and they all starting with his father; his mother; both brothers and a sister; died within five to six years of each other; and they all died exactly in reverse chronologically order in which they were born; skipping over him. It is his unwavering faith and belief in God that continues to sustained him.
Dr. Toby Malichi left a challenging career with General Motors Corporation in which he was one of the youngest district managers in the history of GM; to found his own firm Malichi Group Worldwide a world-class international strategic advisory, thought leadership, and consultancy firm with global relationships in over 70 countries and six continents. Founded in 1982, Malichi Group Worldwide specializes in facilitating and closing international deals; strategically advising and assisting a broad spectrum of small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), multinational corporations, and governments on global opportunities and challenges; and connecting cross-border businesses.
During his tenure at General Motors, Dr. Malichi went through an acquisition himself when White Consolidated acquired then GM/Frigidaire Division. He was a division manager. Subsequently, Dr. Malichi was recruited by both Cadillac and Chevrolet Motor Divisions. Selecting Chevrolet Motor Division, Dr. Malichi directed a workforce of over 300 in 14 automotive dealerships, generating measurable and sustainable revenue gains in excess of 70 million dollars annually. This goal was achieved in both emerging and mature business markets; earning him the prestigious Chevrolet Motor Division Leaders Ring.
Dr. Malichi a successful, self-made internationally-recognized entrepreneur, global strategic advisor and coach, deal facilitator and motivational speaker was featured on PBS-TV in an one-hour special motivational video, "Attitude with Toby Malichi" which was produced in 9 different languages and has sold over 250,000 copies and was selected as the "Editor's Choice" by Success Magazine.
In 2005, Secretary of State, Colin Powell of the U.S. State Department invited Dr. Malichi to deliver motivational talks to high school and college students and professors in Grenada and Barbados. Dr. Malichi was invited back to speak to government officials and employees in Grenada by the Prime Minister.
Dr. Malichi's advice and counsel is sought after by small-and-medium-sized enterprises, multinational corporations and government entities including American Express Small Business Services, and three (3) White House Administrations including the current Administration. In his 14th year, he serves as a federal appointee to the board of directors of the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service - U.S. Department of Commerce - Indiana District Export Council. Vincennes University - the State of Indiana's first college - bestowed Dr. Malichi with an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Business. He is a Sagamore of the Wabash; the highest honor that the Governor of Indiana bestows; and Chief of the Ashanti Tribe, Central Region, Accra, Ghana.
Among his many achievements, Dr. Malichi was a selected participant, official spokesman, and Issue Group Advisor for the U.S. - European Union (EU) Trans Atlantic Business Dialogue (TABD) Small-and Medium-Sized Enterprises Working Group III, Co-convened by The White House, U.S. Department of Commerce and the European Commission.
A team player, Dr. Toby Malichi on January 29, 2010 was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame as a starting forward of 1972 Men's Basketball Team -the first intercollegiate basketball team for Indiana University - Purdue University (I.U.P.U.I) and is a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
