Awarded on October 14, 2017 during the Indiana University Homecoming weekend. Dr. Toby Malichi was honored as the Inaugural Divine Nine Exemplar Legacy Award recipient, by the Indiana University Alumni Association and the Neal-Marshall Alumni Club in recognition of his exemplary representation of the highest ideals of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Indiana University. "We salute your contributions to your profession, your service to the community, your impact on society, and your influence as a role model." Dr. Malichi's name will be enshrined on a permanent plaque in the Grand Hall of the Neal Marshall Black Culture Building, located on the campus of Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.

During the United Nations General Assembly for 2017. Dr. Toby Malichi was invited and selected to be a Delegate at the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit.

Dr. Malichi is a former 6 year member of the board of directors for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce headquartered in Washington, D.C.; served on the international policy committee for 13 years, and is a charter board member of the Chamber's Small Business Council. He also served on the executive committee and 6 years on the board of directors for the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) in Washington, D.C., a non-profit affiliate of the National Endowment of Democracy and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which funds and assists the development of market-based democratic institutions through-out the developing world.
 
Dr. Malichi has also served as a selected official volunteer small business leader, spokesperson and advocate on behalf of the White House Administration promoting the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA); and his congressional testimony on NAFTA before the United States House of Representatives is recorded in the 1993 Congressional Record. As a result of his work on the successful passage of NAFTA, Dr. Malichi  was invited by President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore to be a guest at The White House for the historical signing ceremony of the NAFTA Accord. Former President(s) George H. June 2016. Dr. Toby Malichi, as an Indiana Advisory Board Member, and an expert on Free Trade Agreements for SMEs e.g. TPP was a roundtable panelist on behalf of the U.S. Global Leadership Council (USGLC) at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana. The roundtable consisted of the Mayors of South Bend and LaPorte, corporate, business, and government leaders.

May 10, 2016. Dr. Toby Malichi was featured on live TV and Facebook on local ABC Affiliate, WRTV Channel 6, Indy. The Town Hall Meeting, which was held at Local 1999 Steelworkers Union Hall in response to Carrier Corporation moving manufacturing jobs to Mexico right in the middle of the Presidential Campaign Elections. Dr. Malichi defended his role on the successful passage of NAFTA in 1994, and his pro free trade position on TPP, TTIP and past FTAs.

January 21, 2016. Dr. Toby Malichi, (a current member), was the first person ever to bring the White House Business Council and Business Forward to the City of Indianapolis and the State of Indiana. The Trade Roundtable on TPP and other trade-related issues featured a senior-level Secretary from The White House Administration who was one of the key negotiators of the  agreement during the final rounds of negotiations. The Roundtable discussions were well attended by SME business leaders, Fortune  500 Corporations and international trade organizations. Dr. Malichi's firm Malichi Group Worldwide sponsored the TPP Roundtable. The Indy Chamber, Indiana District Export Council and Telamon were strategic partners.

October 2014, Dr. Malichi was the Featured Speaker at the 2014 Getting the Deal Done Conference. Dr. Toby Malichi holds the distinction of being one of the youngest district managers in the history of General Motors Corporation (GM) / Chevrolet Motor Division and was the youngest division manager at age 23 for then GM/Frigidaire Division. During his tenure, Dr. Malichi survived a near fatal car accident and spent several months in a critical care burn unit. Determined to live, perservere and achieve his personal goals, Dr. Malichi  ranked in top 2% of nation for his superior performance as a district manager for Chevrolet Motor Division, earning him the prestigious and coveted General Motors/Chevrolet Motor Division Leader's Ring for exceeding corporate sales profitability, marketing, capital management and business development goals during a national sales campaign between 9 regions, 44 zones and 144 districts.
 
Dr. Malichi earned an A.S. degree in computer science and graduated with honors and distinction from Vincennes University (one of his alma mater's) - the State of Indiana's first college. He has studied extensive course work in business from Indiana University (IUPUI) 1970-72; (Executive Board Member- I.U. In February 2015, Dr. Toby Malichi was elected to the board of trustees of Martin University, Indianapolis, Indiana a private predominately African American Institution. 

In September 2009, Dr. Malichi was recognized as a "Man of Distinction" by the 100 Black Men of Indianapolis, Inc. as part of their 25th Anniversary year as a leader in his field and having made a positive impact on the city of Indianapolis.  

In November 2004, Dr. Malichi was invited by President George W. Bush to be a Delegate to the White House Economic Summit.
 
Dr. Malichi was appointed by Indiana’s Senior Senator Richard G. Lugar, former chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee as a Delegate to the 1995 White House Conference on Small Business. Dr. Malichi was an elected Delegate to the 1986 White House Conference on Small Business.

Dr. Malichi was elected vice-chairman and chairman of the Indiana Small Business Council, Indiana Chamber of Commerce from 1987-1990; the first black to hold such a prestigious position. During that time, he also served on the executive committee and the board of directors of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Toby Malichi, Hon. D. Bus. an ordained and licensed marketplace minister with a prophetic voice was invited to be a featured marketplace speaker at the 5th Eastern Gate Prayer Convocation 2007 Singapore. His seminar topic was "Transformation of the Marketplace." The Prayer Convocation was attended by thousands of pastors, ministers, spiritual, government and business leaders from over 58 countries and all seven continents. In 2005, Dr. Malichi was one of twenty-five World Business and Religious Leaders invited by the governing body of Transform World Connections headquartered in Singapore - to attend a special world body meeting in Kona, Hawaii - and was subsequently selected to become an International Marketplace Focus Group Facilitator, Speaker, and Delegate to the Transform World Indonesia 2005. There were more than a 120,000 leaders and delegates from all over the world in attendance. While attending Transform World Indonesia 2005, Dr. Malichi was personally selected and invited by Pastor Bambang - Founder of 70 churches in Medan, Indonesia, to be the week's revival - featured speaker. In 2005, Secretary of State, The Honorable Colin Powell of the U.S. State Department invited Dr. Toby Malichi to deliver global motivational talks commemorating Black History Month to high school and college students, professors and business leaders in Grenada and Barbados  Dr. Malichi was invited back to speak to government officials and employees in Grenada by the Prime Minister.

Dr. Malichi also served as the moderator for the International Franchise Association - Minority Business Enterprise Magazine's panel discussion on franchising held both in Washington, D.C and Los Angeles California. In 2001, Dr. Toby Malichi was a global keynote speaker at the Institute of Economic Affairs African Conference on Corporate Governance and Sustainable Development - Accra, Ghana for small and medium-sized enterprises sponsored by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

Dr. Malichi a current board member for over 24 years also was the global keynote Speaker at the 1999 National District Export Council's Annual Conference for the U.S. Foreign and Commercial Service - U.S. Department of Commerce. A team player, Dr. Toby Malichi on January 29, 2010 was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame as a starting forward of the 1972 Division I Men's Basketball Team - the first intercollegiate basketball team for Indiana University - Purdue University (I.U.P.U.I). He is a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and is a proud and loving father of five children (including a deceased son, Coby), identical twin girls, and seven grandchildren. Dr. Toby Malichi's motto epitomizes his life: "Have a Successful Day and Trade Globally!"
